Our format

Debates are recorded in a TV studio, and broadcast a few days later. There will be minimal editing necessary for style, but not substance.

When edited, each TV debate will run for 48 mins (a broadcast hour) and have 3 station breaks, i.e. we have 4 parts, each running for about 10 – 12 mins.

We have a panel of four and a studio audience of 24 for each debate.

Our debate moderators (professional broadcasters) will engage the panel and some members of the studio audience in a lively discussion exploring several facets of each day’s topic.

Panel members will get a little more ‘talking time’, but they will not be allowed to dominate – the moderator will actively engage many audience members who can ask questions and/or make short comments.

Each debate will also feature 2 or 3 short video segments that are produced in advance by TVE Asia Pacific’s production team. These will be played at key points during the debate to inspire a particular line of discussion.
